Chickadee magazine

Launched in October 2013Chickadee is Animal Liberation Qld’s very own glossy lifestyle and fashion magazine for girls. Written for 'tweens’ and young teenagers, the magazine promotes awareness of sentience in animals, and helps inform young consumers of ways in which they can make compassionate choices for animals every day.

In February 2015, we also released an accompanying comprehension booklet to be used by schools.

Content in the magazine includes:

  • cruelty-free make-up options along with fashion pages featuring alternatives to leather and fur;
  • profiles of young Queensland animal advocates;
  • profiles of animals at Farm Animal Rescue;
  • information about factory farmed pigs;
  • illustrations of animals used in entertainment;
  • an article on the demonising of flying foxes in Queensland;
  • vegan recipes; and
  • a Question and Answer advice page.
